BMW is releasing a racing version of the latest generation of sports car

BMW first took the wraps off its racing version of the M3 at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show in February
Now here is new video clip showing the maiden track voyage of the feisty race-tuned M3.

The BMW M3 features are 4.0-liter V8 that lays down 485 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed sequential racing transmission with a carbon-fiber clutch and a mechanical limited-slip differential. This car weight is only 2,535 pounds even with addition of a few aerodynamic exterior modifications

Took more than two years for BMW M to build the car which has been designed to compete in the American Le Mans Series starting in 2009.
